Start by identifying three anchors: a gatherer engine, a builder engine, and a security engine. Your gatherers should love long routes; your builders should love repetitive crafting; your security roster should stabilize morale during night events.

Morale and food priority
- Cooked meals beat raw ingredients for stability.
- Oasis fruits are premium morale fuel during heat waves.
- Weird meats tank morale—sell, trade, or process elsewhere.
Housing and storm weeks
Tight barracks layouts reduce walk time but spike discomfort during sandstorms. Add ventilation paths, interior lighting, and a “storm day” chore roster so repairs do not stall your shipyard. Pair housing upgrades with the base building guide.
Automation without micromanagement
Automation is not “more machines”—it is fewer decisions. Build short loops: input chest → processor → output chest near the workstation that consumes the item. Label floors by function (wood, fiber, stone, metal, ship parts). When a storm hits, your tribe should default to the nearest valid task without you pinging individuals.
